A Tea Party Is In Order

Words cannot express how infinitely happy I am at the moment. Casting for my homeschool drama group was on Friday, and the two plays that our director has chosen are absolutely phenomenal:
Alice in Wonderland
and... Pride and Prejudice!

Auditions were so much fun, albeit nerve wracking when it came time to be given roles. =) I am so happy to say that I have been cast in P&P...as Elizabeth Bennet!! A dream come true, to be sure. And what's more, I get to act alongside some of my great friends. Hayden is going to be playing Mrs. Bennet, my dear mama. Check out her blog here. She has some pretty amazing stuff to say. =) Emily, her sister, gets to be my beloved sister, Jane. <3
Overall, I'm extremely excited to be in the company of so many amazing people. =) The play would not be nearly as epic were it not for them. Exciting, right? To say the least. =D Both are going to be absolutely wonderful productions, and the casts of each are some enormously talented people.
I've only known about Pride and Prejudice for about 4 years now, so unfortunately I'm not one of those girls who has had a love for it since the age of 3, but let me tell you, I've fallen in love with the characters and the story ever since then, and it is such a great privilege to be given the opportunity to be in it! =) I cannot wait to start up practice again in January!

More Happenings...

So my first party with Timeless Enchantments Entertainment is in 2 weeks! Even though there are still a few things to get situated, I'm extremely excited! In preparation of this wonderful event, and more to come, I have created a new blog specifically for my business. Unfortunately, I decided to be a traitor to Blogger, and purchased my own domain name at WordPress.com. But I hope you will forgive me for that! =) I will post the link here in a few weeks, as it is still under major construction, and I will have a photo shoot done so you can enjoy more than a blank screen with my business name on it. ;) We are in the planning stages of our next character already, so I will post a poll on the sidebar with a  few options for characters. Let me know your thoughts, and share with friends! The more the merrier! Thanks for all your support, my lovely friends and readers! <3

It's Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! =) (I couldn't resist...)

So...I know I once again have not posted in a while, but it is not for lack of things to say that I do not post regularly...it is for lack of time. =) I think that if I truly put my mind to it, I would post at least a little something every day or two, but school seems to be taking my writing energy for right now. ='/ As soon as I can, I will find something to write about that will make up for the weeks of silence. =) And I'm pretty sure that will not take too long. ;) I've got some crazy, amazing things coming up soon! Drama class starts again tomorrow, and that is making me super excited! But to be honest, even drama class pales in comparison to the next thing...my business is truly starting! I have my first gig lined up in October, and I'm really excited about that, seeing as how it happens to be my sister Jessica's party! A lot of people are gonna be there, as mom wants to give Jessie a really fun party (and would like to help me in my endeavors by getting me started a bit), and I still have some things to put in order before I'm costume-ready, but it's actually happening!
A few other things could probably be said, as when I get started, I tend to be pretty long-winded, but right now I have to go round up some crazy seals that are traipsing around the hallway (a.k.a - my hyper sisters) =)

Thoughts For the Day

So a few weeks ago we studied a chapter of 1 Kings in youth group. Chapter 19: 1-14, the story about Elijah and how he ran away from Jezebel, the woman who wanted to have him killed, into the wilderness where he pleaded with God to take his life... I guess he would rather die by God's hand than by Jezebel's. But then God's angel comes to him and God provides food and water for Elijah to use. This happens 2 times, then God simply asks the question, "What are you doing here Elijah?" Elijah's response: "I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down your altars and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they seek my life, to take it away." God then tells Elijah to stand on a mountain before the Lord. He then sends a series of events that are meant to show Elijah the power of God and how He works: A great strong wind broke the rocks around him, an earthquake shook the ground that he was standing on, probably causing him to fear that it would break beneath him, a fire tore across the wilderness, ravaging all that was in it's path. Yet the Lord was not in any of those things. Though He controls each and every one of those power rending events, the Lord God chose to present Himself to Elijah in something entirely different. A still, small voice. A gentle blowing, like the spring wind in the trees. This was to show Elijah God's power. This was to let him know that God can and would control everything in life, and nothing would happen outside of his will. God would raise up those in Israel who were to help Elijah, who were zealous for God, just as he was. He needn't have feared for his life and his loneliness, for God had already heard his cries and longed to bring him out of the self-centered thoughts at that moment. Perhaps it is quiet and unknown at times, but once we learn to listen for the still, small voice...that is the greatest place to be.
I guess what really brought these thoughts on is something that I wrote down last night during my bible study. It's from Francis Chan's book Crazy Love. Here's what I found:
"Stop thinking and talking when you are in the presence of God. Instead, listen to what He is telling you through the quiet whispers or the words on every page you are reading. God is not someone we can bark our needs to. He knows them already and has a plan for each and every one. Needs may not be met in the way we think they should at the time, but if we let God talk to us in the way He truly desires to, we will find that the circumstance of our needs is no longer important. Instead, we will be in awe of what He has done an said."
That is something that I truly need to work on. I know that I'm not listening as much as I should, and I pray that as I listen to Him in my life, I will get the joy of hearing that still, small voice...

Shared links and wonderful friends =)

I asked a friend of mine to help me reach a few more people who might be interested in helping me create beautful works and touching others with my princess inspired woodwork designs. Let me just say, I am so thankful and pleased that she cares for me enough to post on her blog with such encouraging words. =)
She and her family are such a blessing to know, and her kids are truly amazing, fun-loving and creative. I invite you to check out her blog as well, and get to know her wonderful family a bit. ;) They are just awesome miracles and friends.  =D <3

Literary Tag!

01. A fictional character you identify with and why.
If I were to be honest, I would say Marianne Dashwood. I tend to lean heavily towards the dramatic side of things, though not as openly expressed as she tends to be, and while I’m not a hopeless romantic, I find myself daydreaming about random things more times than I care to count. We both have a love of nature, as I’d much rather spend my time exploring the country-side than doing my chores. That, combined with the fact that we both LOVE the piano and singing…and the fact that I’ve been told multiple times that I look and play like the new BBC version’s Marianne (perhaps more from some angles than others)…I think the identification is complete. Lol.  =)

02. Your earliest memory of reading or being read to.
Hmm. I remember acting out stories in 1st grade with my class, as the teacher read them. Does that count? =)

03. Your favorite book aged 9 ½, or 13 ¾, whichever you remember best.
Haa haa! At that age, definitely the American Girl series. I think Felicity was always my favorite. I love the Colonial era and all the etiquette stuff. ;)

04. The book that’s been on your shelves the longest.
Oh my… um…I would think it would be the American Girl books.

05. A book you acquired in some interesting way.
I received a copy of Thomas Paine’s Common Sense after taking a tour around Historic Philidelphia with Timothy Matlock and Thomas Paine. =) (it was a re-enactment) It’s probably not all that interesting, but it’s the best I got. Lol.

06. A book with a story for you, that reminds you of something specific in your life (a person, a place, a time). Hmm… I have a 1929 copy of Little Women that I bought at an antique store in Strasburg Pennsylvania on a trip with my grandparents, as well as an 1817 copy of Schiller's William Tell in German. That was an awesome trip! And a really cool buy. ;)

07. What fictional character are you (secretly) in love with.
Hee hee. I have several actually. But I shall not tell. At least on this post. =D

08. The last book you acquired, and how (begged, bought, borrowed?)
The last book I acquired is called Waterfall, by Lisa T. Bergren. I actually have not read it yet, because it was a co-buy with a friend and I let her read it first. Lol. But I've read the prologue and 1st chapter...so I'm exicted to read it now.

09. Your current read, your last read and the book you’ll read next.
My current read…well I have two. Haa haa. One is The Fellowship of the Ring, and the other is Les Miserables. My last read is one of my many Nancy Drew books. I had a few that I hadn’t even read yet. (I found out the other day there are about 175 in the Mystery Stories series…let’s just say, I’m not sure I’m gonna collect all of those. Haa haa). The book I’ll read next is The Two Towers. I’ve read them before, but I felt I should read them again, as I was pretty young the first time around.

10. What author do you own the most books by and why?
Hmmm. Tolkien. I have at least 3 copies of Lord of the Rings series. Don’t ask. =)

(More questions coming soon!)

An Introduction...

At this point in time, I am a 17 year old southern girl who loves to sing, act, and write. I am small in stature, fun-loving and energetic, musical no matter the time of day, and an avid reader. I am rarely seen without a book in my hand, or a song on my lips. =) What I lack in height, I hope I make up for in personality, but that can be for you to decide. ;) I am a Christian, a follower and believer of Jesus Christ, and though I may not have all the answers and I am certainly not perfect, I know that He has saved me from my own selfish sins and I am so thankful when I think of what He did for me. I pray that as I write on this blog, it will be for His glory and that you will see His love shining through me.
This blog is kind of multi-purpose. I will be posting my random musings and favorite things on my Home page, as often as I can. Hopefully they will not bore you to tears. ;) But aside from that, I will also be giving updates on my newest venture, Timeless Enchantments Entertainment, the start of my own company. =D The gist: I will be a fairytale character performer, and will be available for birthday parties and other activities for children and families in and around the Charleston area. At this point, it is still quite new as there are many things that need to be done before I can fully start up, so you can check for updates on my website, www.timeless-enchantments.com. I'm uber excited about it. =)
One more thing will be posted on this blog, as sort of a side business, yet still linked with the other one. I'm going to be making customized wooden wall letters, and will be taking on commissions as well as selling a few ready-made. Pictures and descriptions will be posted on the page, Treasures of the West Wing. They can spell anything you like: your name, your favorite movie, characters, or anything that strikes your fancy. =)
So, that's about it for the basic introduction and run-through of what this blog is about! I'm so excited to share my thoughts and adventures with you! I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy posting them!
**If you ever wish to send me an email about parties, letter commissions, or even just to chat, please do so at kaylamariemiller17@gmail.com. I'd love to hear from my fellow bloggers and lovely readers!**
In Christ,
Kayla Marie
